LIOPETRI
The small fishing village of Liopetri, otherwise known as Potamos Liopetriou, is a picturesque village located within an easy drive from Ayia Napa.
With a photogenic inlet where fishermen spend the day repairing their nets, before setting sail in the evening to go fishing. Two of the best acclaimed seaside fish tavernas can be found in Potamos.
The village itself has a variety of shops, traditional tavernas and other local amenities but the main places of interest include the remains of a Venetian watch tower, the medieval church of Panagia and the 15th century church of Agios Andronikos, which features an octagonal dome and an apse with lovely murals.
Liopetri is traditionally a potato-growing and fishing town, but the village is also renowned for its delicious wine and ancient traditional craft of basket making.
